Reflectance Transformation Imaging is a technique that involves taking multiple ultra-high resolution images of an object with different light sources and different polarization filters. The captured images and corresponding light and camera settings can then be used to calcualte physically-accurate material attributes to digitally display or reproduce those materials. This method is significantly more accurate than other types of imaging.

This research currently focuses on capturing and displaying historic textiles. Aside from capture and processing of the textiles, we are working to develop an accessible web-based application for vieweing these material captures.

This research is ongoing, and this page will be updated when results are published.
